Celestial Vision: Our Little Light Serves God’s Big Purposes

During prayer and meditation time, the Lord gave me a celestial vision — a large ball, the size of the sun, but composed of a mass of shining sparks of light against a totally dark sky. Out of the circular mass came swirling and cascading points of light, not exactly stars, but moving almost like specks of dust that could be seen through infrared glasses, swirling clockwise and downward.

I asked the Holy Spirit to explain the vision. He said the ball of gathered sparks in the darkness represents people in the community of believers. The ball represents fellowship, unity, the Body of Christ, and the beauty of coming together. Thus gathered, the light shines more observably, becoming visible to others. From that gathering of like-spirited souls, each person having a spark of the Light of Christ, individuals are sent out, often two-by-two or in small groups (like Unbound teams ministering), far and wide, to disseminate the light of Truth. And he said, “You are one of those little sparks of light, and you’re useful to me in humble obedience.”

The Holy Spirit reiterated what God once told Linda Schubert, The Miracle Hour author with whom I used to be in a prayer group, and she shared with me: “Little is much in My hands.” The Spirit advised: “Don’t forget the littleness. YOUR littleness. Remain humble. No one likes a proud and haughty know-it-all! Persecution for Holy Boldness will be rewarded in heaven, but pride and arrogance are the evil one’s tactics to weaken the message that I want to have shared as directed. Do so in humility!” That means remain teachable, and give God the glory. Unless you are carefully relying upon or quoting the Word of God, you might pose questions for others to ponder rather than speaking as if you were the authority.

Over the next few days, before I shared the rhema/words of God I’d received, I asked some gifted prayer partners with prophetic gifts what the Holy Spirit put on their hearts about this vision. Confirmations included these: One person received the idea that the little specks were the Body of Christ, with individual persons doing their own parts, even though we don’t see the whole picture. Another shared that from a place of total darkness, even a pinhole of light helps you to see the way out of the dark, reminding us that Light overcomes darkness. Another said we represent the Light of the World, Jesus, when we go out and shine our light. Citing Psalm 4, one woman shared that Joyful Confidence in God comes from calling upon God, meditating in silence, and trusting God to answer us and help us in distress, as we let the light of God’s face shine upon us and put gladness in our hearts.

Here are three other related scriptures:

“Do everything without grumbling or  questioning, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine like lights in the world.” ~ Philippians 2:14-15 (NAB)

God is light, and in him there is no darkness at all. If we say, ‘We have fellowship with him,’ while we continue to walk in darkness, we lie and do not act in truth. But if we walk in the light as he is in the light, then we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of his Son Jesus cleanses us from all sin.” ~ 1 John 1:5-7 (NAB – The footnote says light here refers to truth and goodness, whereas darkness is error and depravity.)

“[I]f you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then your light shall rise in the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday sun. And the LORD will guide you continually, and satisfy your desire with good things, and make your bones strong.” ~Isaiah 58:10-11 (RSV)

With this celestial vision, how about asking what little or humble way you might let the light of Christ shine through you this week?
